These stairs were designed for a friend’s log cabin. They were built with no plan, just a pile of left-over lumber from the cabin build. The blueprint called for them to be a straight run, but because of other modifications, the stairs would have ended right at the front door so we made the decision to do a landing with a short back-run. The landing consists of 3 pie-shaped boxes which take the height of 3 normals steps. For years the bannisters consisted of 2×4’s tacked up, so recently we came back and installed the oak handrails with the iron balusters. Future plans call for a runner on the stair treads and carpeting on the landing platforms.
